NEMA Roofing is a licensed, full-service roofing company with local offices across Southern California, proudly serving Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino. We started in Ventura and Santa Barbara, and thanks to word-of-mouth and outstanding customer feedback, we’ve expanded with dedicated locations in each of these regions.
With over 5,000 roofs installed and more than 1,000 five-star reviews, homeowners consistently choose NEMA Roofing for reliable service, local expertise, and long-lasting results. You do not have to take any contractor’s word for this kind of thing: a state license can be looked up on the Contractors State License Board website in a minute, and ours (#1083283) shows its classifications, the contractor’s bond and the workers’ compensation policy on file.
What began in Ventura and Santa Barbara has now grown into one of the most respected roofing companies in Southern California, built on word-of-mouth referrals and over 1,000 five-star reviews. With more than 5,000 successful roof installations, homeowners continue to choose NEMA Roofing for our expertise and customer care.
The work covers the whole life of a roof: an inspection that tells you where it stands, repairs for leaks and storm damage, maintenance that keeps small problems small, and a replacement or new installation when the roof has reached the end of its useful life.
As a family-owned business led by a military veteran, we bring the same discipline, integrity, and attention to detail to every project that we bring to serving our country. Our hand-selected and highly trained technicians follow strict safety protocols on every job site, ensuring protection for your home, our team, and your family.
From specialized fall-prevention equipment to ongoing safety training, our crews are committed to doing the job right the first time, every time.
We take pride in our quality work performed by our in-house crew. As a GAF Master Elite® Contractor and Preferred Polyglass Contractor, we hold two of the most respected certifications in the roofing industry; these credentials are earned by fewer than 2% of roofing contractors nationwide. This elite status means our team has been rigorously vetted for licensing, insurance, ongoing training, and a proven track record of exceptional installation quality.
What the credentials change for you is the warranty. As a GAF Master Elite contractor, NEMA can register every GAF enhanced warranty, including the Golden Pledge Limited Warranty, the GAF warranty that adds GAF-backed coverage for installation workmanship. As an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, NEMA can register the Owens Corning Preferred Protection warranty, which includes workmanship coverage.
As a family-owned company with military roots, safety and precision are our top priorities. Thousands of homeowners across Southern California trust us for proven quality and lasting results, and we have installed more than 5,000 roofs.

Most calls start with a leak or an aging roof. A leak on a roof that is otherwise sound usually needs a roof repair. Repeated leaks, brittle or bare shingles, cracked tiles across several slopes or a deck that feels soft underfoot usually point to a roof replacement. If you cannot tell which one you are facing, start with a roof inspection: it shows what needs fixing now and what can wait. Each card below says in one line when that service is the right call, and tile roofs have their own page on tile roofing in Santa Barbara.
Flat and low-slope roofs on offices, shops, warehouses and apartment buildings: leak repair, recoating, full membrane replacement, and the cool-roof rule California applies to a commercial re-roof.
Roofing products rated to reflect sunlight and shed heat. Inland (Ojai, Westlake Village, Woodland Hills, Riverside, San Bernardino) most house re-roofs must be cool-rated; on the Santa Barbara and Ventura coast the rule covers low-slope roofs.
Ponding water, split seams and blistered membranes on flat and low-slope roofs. The repair starts by finding where the water really enters, and ends with a straight answer on whether a new membrane is the better buy.
Cool-rated membranes and shingles, and roofs made ready before solar panels go on. The right choice depends on the roof’s slope, its climate zone and your plans for the house.
Standing-seam and other metal roofs for homes and businesses: light, long-lived, and a common choice on lots where state fire rules call for a Class A roof.
When leaks keep coming back, the shingles are brittle or bare, or the deck feels soft underfoot, a new roof is often better value than another repair. See what a replacement includes and how to compare bids.
Active leak or storm damage? Call 866-631-3366. The first job is to stop the water; the permanent repair follows once the damage is understood. Photograph everything before it is moved: your insurer will ask.
An inspection tells you what you have: the state of the covering, flashing, drains and deck, what needs attention now and what can wait. Worth doing before you buy, sell or add solar panels.
Clearing drains and gutters, resealing flashing and replacing the odd broken tile or shingle during the dry months, before the first heavy rain finds the weak spot.
Re-shingling replaces the shingle layer over a sound roof deck. Whether the old layer has to come off, and which shingle suits the house, is covered on the roof replacement page.
Leaks, missing or cracked shingles and tiles, and failed flashing at chimneys, skylights and vents. A good repair finds the entry point, which is often several feet from the stain on the ceiling.
How to check a roofing company before you sign: look up its state license on the CSLB website, read what its Google reviews say about real jobs, and ask who will actually work on your roof.
Six NEMA locations (Santa Barbara, Oxnard, Woodland Hills, Tarzana, Downey, San Bernardino) and full coverage of all five counties we serve. See the towns we cover, what the first visit looks like and the questions worth asking any roofing contractor.
New roofs for new homes and additions: shingle, tile, metal or low-slope systems, chosen for the roof’s slope, its climate zone and the fire rules that apply to the lot.
Three things decide how a roofing job goes: who holds the license, what the manufacturer will stand behind, and how the price and the paperwork are handled. Here is where NEMA stands on each.
We are certified and partnered with leading manufacturers including GAF, Owens Corning,
CertainTeed, Polyglass, DaVinci, Malarkey, Westlake, and Eagle Roofing Products. This means
you get access to the highest-quality roofing materials, backed by industry-leading warranties of
up to 25 years.
Every NEMA technician is fully trained, licensed, and insured, ensuring your project is completed correctly the first time. Our deep knowledge of California building codes and insurance procedures protects you from costly surprises and guarantees that your roof will be
built to last.
We also believe in transparent and competitive pricing. If you receive a lower written quote for
the same roofing system and installation, we will match or beat that price.
At NEMA Roofing Solutions, we believe every homeowner deserves to be treated with professionalism, respect, and transparency. That’s why we provide on-time appointments, accurate estimates, and clear communication throughout every project.
If your property has suffered storm, fire, or water damage, our experienced team will guide you through the insurance claims process to help maximize your coverage. Our crews clean as they go, safeguard your landscaping, and recycle materials whenever possible.
When you choose NEMA Roofing Solutions, you’re choosing a contractor recognized for 5,000+
completed installs, 1,000+ five-star reviews, and partnerships with the top roofing manufacturers in the industry.

Three local conditions shape most roofing decisions on the South Coast, and they are worth knowing before you compare bids.
The State Fire Marshal maps 511,662 acres of Santa Barbara County as a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. California’s wildland-urban interface rules (Chapter 7A of the California Building Code) require Class A roof assemblies in fire hazard severity zones, and the state applies its roofing rules throughout the State Responsibility Area whatever the zone’s rank. The zones are drawn from fuel, terrain and fire weather, not town lines, which is why the address lookup matters. Look your address up on the State Fire Marshal’s Fire Hazard Severity Zone page before you pick a material, or ask us to check it during the assessment.
California’s Energy Code places Santa Barbara, Goleta, Carpinteria and Montecito in building climate zone 6, together with Ventura, Oxnard and Camarillo. Ojai, Santa Paula, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks ZIP codes 91358 to 91362 and the Woodland Hills, Tarzana and Encino area are in zone 9. Under the 2025 Energy Code, in force since January 1, 2026, re-roofing a sloped roof on a house in zone 9 calls for a cool-rated product (aged solar reflectance of at least 0.20 and thermal emittance of at least 0.75) unless one of the code’s exceptions applies. In zone 6 that rule covers low-slope roofs only. The cool roofing page walks through the numbers and the exceptions.
Close to the ocean, exposed fasteners, flashing and metal edges corrode sooner than the same parts on an inland roof, so they deserve a close look at every inspection. And because the dry months hide weak spots that the first heavy rain exposes, late summer and early fall are the practical time to have a roof checked and small repairs done.
Before you sign with any roofer in California, make two quick checks. Look the license up on the Contractors State License Board website and confirm it is active and carries the roofing (C-39) classification. And know that state law limits the down payment on a home improvement contract to 10 percent of the contract price or one thousand dollars, whichever is less.
Yes. CSLB license #1083283 is current and active with the roofing (C-39) and general building (B) classifications, and the state board has a contractor’s bond and a workers’ compensation policy on file for it.
Both. Many roofs need one well-placed repair, not a new roof. When the covering has worn out across the whole roof, a replacement is the better use of the money, and the assessment tells you which case you are in.
All of Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. NEMA has six locations, in Santa Barbara, Oxnard, Woodland Hills, Tarzana, Downey and San Bernardino, so a team is near every town we serve. The full list of towns is on our service areas page.
Yes, including flat and low-slope roofs on offices, retail and apartment buildings. See commercial roofing.
It depends on the building’s climate zone and the roof’s slope. On a house in coastal Santa Barbara (zone 6), a new sloped roof does not have to be cool-rated, but a new low-slope roof does, unless an exception applies. Inland, in zone 9, most sloped re-roofs on houses must be cool-rated too.

Here in NEMA Roofing. We are always happy to hear when our clients feel satisfied. Here is what some of them have said:
When a tile roof leaks but the tiles are sound, the underlayment is usually the cause. What the lift-and-relay job involves, the code rules, fire-zone layers and cost drivers.
The metal roof issues Tarzana homes run into most come from local conditions: daily heat cycles that loosen screws and ripple flat panels, strong sun
Metal roof colors in Tarzana are shaped by one rule and a few practical choices: replacing more than half of a sloped roof in Tarzana’s
Metal roofing matters in Tarzana’s climate because it answers the three things that wear a roof out there: long, very hot summers, wildfire exposure on
