Roof Repair in Hollywood, CA

Hollywood is part of the City of Los Angeles, so the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) issues the reroof permit, and a re-roof with a Class A or B covering under 6 pounds per square foot over existing solid sheathing is on its express-permit list. A small part of the area lies in the Hollywood Grove Historic Preservation Overlay Zone, one of the city’s adopted historic districts; there, exterior work, reroofing included, also goes through design review by the district’s HPOZ board or planning staff.

In the Census tracts inside Hollywood there are 42,325 housing units; 63.8% were built before 1980 and 21.8% in 1939 or earlier (Census ACS 2024 5-year). Only 12.5% are detached houses, 127 are mobile homes and 13.5% are owner-occupied, so most homes are in attached or multi-unit buildings; for a low-slope section see flat roofing.
