Roofing Contractor in Upland, CA

Upland’s Building and Safety Division publishes re-roofing criteria that cap a roof at two installed coverings and require the City Building Inspector to inspect before any additional covering goes over an existing one. Its minimum roofing assembly is Class B. With two coverings already in place, the old roofing has to come off before a new one goes on.

Sampling the official CAL FIRE maps puts about 13% of Upland in a fire hazard zone, on the 2025 local map: about 5% Very High, 5% High and 2% Moderate. On the High and Very High land a replaced roof needs a Class A covering under the Wildland-Urban Interface Code. On the other 90% of Upland, Moderate zones included, state law still requires at least a Class C fire-rated covering when more than half of a roof is replaced within a year (Health and Safety Code 13132.7).
