Roofing Services in Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Under the city’s Roofing Repair Policy, in effect since May 1, 2020, roofing work under 400 square feet on a residential building needs a Roof Repair Permit, and a re-roof or lift-and-relay over 400 square feet needs a Reroof Permit, approved by the Building and Safety Services Department. The city also says roofing material generally has to match what was approved in the building’s original design review, so a change of material is worth checking first.

Sampling the official CAL FIRE maps puts about 30% of Rancho Cucamonga in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, all on the 2025 local map, and about 37% in some zone. The city requires Class A roofing in Very High zones and at least Class B elsewhere. Metal on a noncombustible deck counts as Class A under the state Wildland-Urban Interface Code: see metal roofing. On the other 66% of Rancho Cucamonga, Moderate zones included, state law still requires at least a Class C fire-rated covering when more than half of a roof is replaced within a year (Health and Safety Code 13132.7).
